Namchi is located between Ravangla and Jorethang. It is 78kms from Gangtok (takes about 3.5 hours), 26kms from Ravangla, 96kms from NJP and 102kms from Bagdogra. Regular Sikkim Tourism buses are available between Gangtok and Namchi, as well as private taxis.
The city features cool, wet summers and chilly, dry winters mainly affected by its altitude and the summer monsoon season. The average precipitation is 1110 mm, and the average temperature is 6.1°C. "Namche Bazaar" is the name of a song by Nathan Rogers on his album The Gauntlet.
