The one year individual membership costs $99 USD and includes a one year subscription to Photoshop User Magazine. But there's a lot more. The NAPP membership package features so many resources ( see summary below) that you'll be in Photoshop heaven for months.
Use this method if you like your own setup, if you only need simple NAS/SAN config without advanced support for other operating systems or if you need a dedicated highspeed NAS or SAN. Download a bootup ISO of newest OmniOS, OpenIndiana or Solaris 11, burn it and install to a local Sata disk or fast USB stick (min 30 GB, best are SSDs).
Install OmniOS to a dedicated systemdisk, name of the systempool must be rpool !! The size of the boot SSD should be at at least 32 GB and at least 2 x RAM size. 3. Configure network 1. Configure the installed OmniOS, select then 1.
The OmniOS defaults are suboptimal regarding network settings (ip-buffer), NFS settings, AHCI Hotplug behaviour (disabled per default) or disk timeouts (up to 3 minutes on problems, way to high should be reduced to a TLER alike timeout of 7s). Midnight commander (mc) is a filebrowser that allows viewing and editing files from a text console.
