The problem today is that in North America, the indigenous population intermixed about 125% more than the indigenous population of South America did. Because of this, North American Indians are not considered by anthropologists to be native to their own ancestral homelands.

Speaking of architecture, we can't talk about the indigenous art of South America without mentioning the ancient architecture of the Incas and Mesoamerican Mayans. Most widely known is Machu Picchu, an Inca citadel situated on the mountaintops of Peru.
As South America was colonized by Europeans, the art forms merged to form a style that reflects the rich and complex cultures. Most South American capital cities have a national museum that houses traditional fine and folk art.
