It works well in controlling the weeds within the mulch. Easy to use and the instructions are right there on the handle. You do have to be careful to position the "knife" into the weed.

There's two different versions of the NatureZap, one that is battery operated, and a corded version that you plug into an extension cord. The battery operated NatureZap does require a larger battery pack that weighs around 17 lbs that comes with a 10 food cord.
The IR light creates heat that cuts off the water supply to the root, meanwhile the UV light penetrates the ground to disrupt the root functions. The NatureZap weed killing IR wand is a perfect replacement for spraying harsh and smelly chemicals that not only may hurt your lawn, but could also hurt your pets.
Developed in part with funding through the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) office at Edwards Air Force Base (AFB) in southern California, the NatureZap device is said to produce die-back in treated plants at a rate of about 70-80%, especially in common nuisance plants such as ragweed, dandelions, and crabgrass.
