Presumably updating the firmware will require the modem to be re-registered with NBN Co, is this something ABB would also be doing if they recommend/ship modems with this firmware? Ok, I have found all the VoIP stuff to get my home line sorted, but the modem is not showing the line one and the DSL lights at all.
Better off with a straight router unless you are also using Aussiebroadband's VOIP service and they will not provide you with the relevant details to configure your own router or IP phone for VOIP. But early days yet and the cheaper NF10WV seems to be problematic. aliali writes...

Select the name under description to edit an existing configuration, if there's any. Ethernet WAN for FTTC, FTTP, HFC or Fixed Wireless service. Select PPPoE for the connection type, then enter the username and password provided to you via email. Click Update to save the new settings.
