The OARTEC DX generates a smooth and fluid dynamic rowing movement that is more enjoyable to use, feels more like rowing on the water, and significantly reduces the load on the lower back and joints. Skip to content

Apr 02, 2018 . It’s pretty large from front to back…7′-8″ long. For comparison, the C2 dynamic is 6′-3″ long. Thankfully, the OARTEC DX is a bit lighter than the C2Dynamic (78 vs 92lbs). Neither machine is one that you want to move around by yourself.

OARTEC DX Designed by a former Australian national team rower, released in 2017 and assembled and stocked in the US (Ferndale, Washington) you can tell that a lot of thought has gone into the design of the OARTEC DX, even though a hasty look may call it a blend of the strengths of the Slider, RP3 and Concept 2 machines.

May 01, 2011 . The OARTEC is a very well constructed machine, solid, easy to assemble. It uses the same type of flywheel as the concept 2 and is reportedly calibrated the same as the concept 2, so theoretically 500m rowed on the OARTEC would equal 500m on the static Concept 2. I say theoretically because I think they are actually a bit different.

OARTEC DX - Anyone have experience? Hi, I'm looking to get my first erg for general fitness/cardio. I've never really rowed before (on or off the water) and trying to decide between the classic C2 Model D (~$1550 AUD) and the newly released OARTEC DX (~$2400 AUD). I've used a C2 for about 10mins at a gym and found it a little boring.

Aug 31, 2012 . The OARTEC is build like a tank and the attention to detail is quite amazing for such a relatively inexpensive piece of cardio equipment (compared to a stepper or treadmill etc...). The movement is silky smooth.

The RP3's tablet gives much more feedback than does the DX's rather simple monitor. I chose the OARTEC because it was half the price (I live in New Jersey, USA. Prices in the UK probably differ). Also, OARTEC is about to start beta testing a new monitor. That will have real-time force curves, stoke time and length, etc.

OARTEC is half the price of the RP3 and there’s a review out there that says that regardless of price, the OARTEC best replicates the on water feel. They also calibrate their machine to C2’s data set and you can even fit a PM5 on there with no modification. The RP3 has accurate data and performance monitoring, but is missing the C2 ...

The OARTEC DX has a very smooth and fluid dynamic rowing action that is more enjoyable to row and has the closest feeling to rowing on the water.
The RowPerfect, the OARTEC DX and the C2 on sliders all have a chain driven air resistance fly wheel with some sort of a spring tension return. The mechanism is very simple. On the C2 dynamic, there is a complex arrangement of ropes, pulleys chains and springs to allow both the footrest and handle to “float”, but be linked together.
The OARTEC and the RowPerfect are in between, with a moving mass of 42 pounds. The implication is that the leading edge of the force curve is sharpest on the C2 Dynamic, and shallowest for a C2 on slides. What does mean in terms of feel?
The ORTEC brand is synonymous with offering the latest technology in radiation detector devices. Our hand-held radioisotope identifiers have become a game changer in the nuclear instrumentation industry.
