Though the Oceans cover more than 70 percent of Earth, only 20 percent is visible to us. So we are usually only able to see the water at the surface, not most of it, the other 80 percent, below. part of a continent that extends underwater to the deep-Ocean floor.
Earth’s Oceans contain about 96.5 percent of all the planet’s water. Less than 3 percent of all water on Earth is freshwater (usable for drinking). More than two-thirds of Earth’s freshwater is locked up in ice caps and glaciers. Changing sea levels will affect everyone on our planet, and NASA has been monitoring these trends for decades.
Oceans define our home planet, covering the majority of Earth’s surface and driving the water cycle that dominates our land and atmosphere.
The remaining 95% of the Ocean still remains a mystery. Why is deep sea exploration such an arduous task, considered by some experts to be more difficult than exploring outer space objects?
