Of course, this had parents angered, but there are many health reasons why we should limit how much time our children spend with handheld devices, and in front of the screen. Here are just a few to consider. Too much time with technology causes children to not get enough exercise.
For children older than 2 years, media limits are very appropriate. Limit screen use to no more than 1 hour or less per day of high-quality programming. Co-view or co-play with your children, and find other activities for to do together that are healthy for the body and mind such as reading, playing together, or going outside.
You can simply remove the phone or tablet from the child’s hands and keep it out of sight for the rest of the day. It’s especially important to keep young children away from electronic devices several hours before bedtime.
Place consistent limits on hours of media use as well as types of media used. Check your children's media use for their health and safety. Avoid exposure to devices or screens for 1 hour before bedtime. Do not let your children sleep with devices such as smartphones. Discourage entertainment media while doing homework.
