Pre-treating can take a minute or more. Pre-treat can be expensive (Ryonet sells a 20 liter supply of Epson's pre-treat for just under $700) – but it's necessary for professional-quality prints. How much does it cost to print a shirt with a DTG printer? DTG pricing is actually fairly simple. There is a major upside to DTG printing.

Both printers have similiar maintenance. Both printers have automated maintenance and a wet capping system to prevent ink clogging in the lines and heads.

One would be to add something like 10 cents to each print so round the ink cost up by 10 cents, other printers may require more. Another is a basic set up fee, screen printing will always have a setup fee for film and screens per color. With Direct to garment a basic $5.00 set up fee will help cover maintenance and cleaning solutions.
