OMC's 1993 line included several 5.8-liter outboard engines that differ only in their horsepower rating, which ranges from 235 to 290 horsepower. All other engine specs are identical. OMC 5.8-liters are four-stroke engines with eight cylinders. Gear ratio is 1.41-to-1.

OMC DISCONTINUED THE STRINGER DRIVES IN MID-YEAR 1985 WITH THE INTRODUCTION OF THE OMC COBRA DRIVES. MANY WERE STILL MARKETED AS 1986 MODELS ALONG WITH THE NEW COBRA MODELS.
