Nov 07, 2008 . Paillard then opened a cine division to produce motion picture projectors because at the time the home movie amateur format was popular. But they were also interested in Bogopolsky’s camera design, and they bought the rights to it. It was modified by Paillard engineers and produced as the Paillard-Bolex H16 in 1935, a 16mm camera.

You unfortunately can't taste at Bruno Paillard but you can go there and get the teeny tiny locals discount. I believe it's 28 or 30 euro a bottle but at a restaurant like Les Crayeres the price is immediatley increased 3x to 80 euro a bottle. This gem is the Premiere Cuvee Rose.

In 1932, Marc Renaud, a young engineer, inspired by the products of Paillard and assisted by Professor Ernest Juillard, began development of the Paillard H 16 camera. In 1935, the H 16 camera was put on the market, the 9.5 mm version followed in 1936 and the Double-8mm version in 1938.
By 1963, Paillard assigned a new range of numbers for the "P" series Zoom Reflex cameras ( P1, P2 and P3 ,) and for the K1, K2 and S1 Automatic cameras. The P4 also had its own unique number sequence. More information on Paillard-Bolex serial numbers for cameras and projectors can be found on the individual pages of each model throughout this site.
The H 16 was highly successful. Paillard-Bolex introduced the L 8 for the market of pocket 8 mm film cameras. With the postwar boom in home movie making, Paillard-Bolex continued to develop its 8 mm and 16 mm ranges with the H16 increasingly adopted by professional film makers.
There are many more serial numbers listed in Paillard Service and Repair manuals that indicate improvements in the design of the H16 and H8 (e.g. the metal logo plate was added at 9400, a frame counter was added from 33200 onwards, etc.) but these changes can be determined simply by looking at a camera.
