Panoz can be a very difficult company to explain to someone who has never heard of it. It is a racing team that sometimes builds road cars, which isn’t all that unique, but it also owns the Road Atlanta racetrack, as well as several wineries and hotels.
Panoz's general concept was to take the Spartan and other wild sports cars from before the 60s and polish them up to the acceptable standard of today by using the latest technology. Panoz first tried its hand in competition in GT car races starting in 1997, and for that reason, this car is a classic.
For those of you who are not familiar with the marque, Panoz manufactured a number of competitive race cars, such as the Esperante GTR-1 and its successors and the LMP-1, but also rolled out some limited-run, road-going sports cars as well. Dubbed Abruzzi, the most recent of them all was unveiled four years ago.
With its short-nosed long-decked classical form, the Panoz GTR-1 separated itself from other competitors of the time - such as the Viper - with the design that made it a pure race car, as opposed to a street model. The vehicle's chassis was a full-carbon monocoque which was designed by Reynard.
