Having the pantograph to follow helps you quilt the shapes evenly across your quilt. That’s where a pantograph can be very helpful. By using a laser light or stylus and quilting from the back of the machine you are guaranteeing the design will be quilted consistentlywith no giant gaps left open or extremely dense spots either.
When quilting in this manner you will place the paper pantograph on a table attached to the back of the quilting frame, and a laser light is fastened to the machine. You will then move the machine across the pattern using the laser light as your guide. Pantographs are a great way to build confidence in your quilting!
Leave it full-size and simply fold the excess out of your way on your longarm table. A pantograph design covers your quilt with a single, repeating design quilted in rows. Pantograph designs repeat and fill a specific width of your quilt. All the pantograph designs I’ve shared so far are 4-inches wide.
How to use a pantograph. Repeat the same connection on the opposing pair of bars. With the pantograph adjusted and secured by the fulcrum, place the original image in position on your work surface so that the tracer's tip aligns with the line you wish to copy. Cellophane tape secures the original to your work surface.
Pantographs are quilting patterns that are stitched across the quilt top. The quilting is done from side to side, top to bottom, over the entire quilt without regard to the pieced or appliquéd design of the top.
