Older or cheaper Paramotor frames will usually be made from thin steel tube, that is bent to shape and welded. Newer and slightly more pricey models are incorporating an aerodynamic design, where the frame will be shaped like an aerofoil, which reduces drag. How a Paramotor works: The engine

Traditional tubing creates four times more drag on a Paramotor than airfoil design. The classic design can also hinder your glide ratio by up to 30%, while the cage and netting inadvertently cause you to burn more fuel. The carbon fiber design makes your machine slick and streamlined in the air.

The most basic and also the most important skill required to fly a Paramotor is kiting. Much like flying a kite, "kiting" is the act of controling a glider (typically from the ground) - It is also known as "ground handling" *Often in PPG, the words Kite, Glider, Wing, Sail, Chute, and others are often used interchangeably by different people, and all refer to the Paraglider (the oval shaped ...

Choose a Paramotor with a nice strong frame that will withstand any knocks you may have. Check that you can lift the Paramotor fully fuelled, and choose an engine that offers enough thrust for your weight.

Overall design trade off for flight performance and payload carrying capacity is an airfoil thickness range of 14% to 15% thick airfoils as a general guide. Some full size manned paragliders have airfoils as thick as 16% to 18% for greater lift and slower speed. Excellent Video Showing Paraglider Wing Construction Using Double Stick Tape Method:

The size of the Paramotor is chosen to fit a pilot’s weight and height. The Top 80 engine is light and offers enough power to suit lighter or heavier pilots alike. Heavier pilots need more thrust than lighter pilots, and it is the size of the propeller that dictates the amount of thrust available. Longer propeller = higher thrust.

Most Paramotors have the a very simplified geometry and the pilot’s back is in line with the propeller. To gain some comfort in flight these Paramotors need to sacrifice efficiency and thrust. But not the SCOUT. Look, lean and pull. Simple and intuitive. Feels just right.

Before Paramotoring existed, paragliding pilots were using very similar wings to launch from hillsides. The original paragliding wings were very closely related to ram air parachutes, and featured a very similar design. These wings created a lot of lift, and were capable of staying aloft for many hours by using just wind and thermals.
Many manufacturers are great at what they do and strive for the safest option for their pilots. The most commonly chosen wing is the Ozone Mojo PWR. It is tested and owned by many Paramotor pilots. Choosing this wing as your start is a good move because it has a lot of pilot experience and feedback to back it up.

The hand throttle on most machines uses either a Velcro, or nylon strap to attach it to the pilots hand. This prevents the pilot dropping it at any time during the flight. Fred had started his Paramotor's powerful 200 cc engine which had no clutch, so the propeller was already spinning.
