By installing a pneumatic muffler or silencer, you can reduce the risk of anything getting into the exhaust port. While they’re normally not explicitly designed to filter the open end of your circuit, these handy devices can help keep out everything from dust to abrasive grit.
Pneumatic exhaust silencers are commonly designed with a porous material to increase the surface area of the exhaust port which it covers. They can also be installed on hoses. Pneumatic silencers are designed in differing shapes depending on the application.
A pneumatic silencer and pneumatic muffler refer to the same device. The term silencer is commonly used in British English, whereas the term muffler is commonly used in America. Will I ever need to clean my silencer? It is recommended to routinely clean silencer threads and the housing exterior depending on usage.
A muffler reduces exhaust noise. Valves allow airflow into your equipment and then quickly dump exhaust air to the atmosphere without routing it back through a directional control valve to speed up the movement of equipment. Also known as quick exhaust valves.
