This process, which gives QBC Diagnostics its name, is based on the physiological phenomenon in which the differing densities of blood components will cause them to separate into layers when centrifuged at a high rate of speed. QBC tubes, including the QBC STAR ™ tube, take advantage of this phenomenon in two ways. First, through the use of a small plastic float with the …

All Drucker Diagnostics point of care instruments use our patented QBC tube design. Everything that is needed to process a CBC sample is already contained in the tube. Just fill the tube and place it in one of our dry hematology analyzers. After the analysis is complete, simply discard the tube in an approved waste container.

The QBC Tube. The QBC dry hematology technology begins with its unique blood collection tubes. These high grade tubes are internally coated with all necessary stains and reagents and are easily filled with just 65µL of blood from finger sticks, heel sticks, or venous draws. The QBC centrifuge rotates the tube at 11,000 RPM for approximately 5 minutes.

The CPT Code for the QBC STAR ™ is 85025, CBC with differential. What is the cost per test to run the QBC STAR ™? Because of the unique dry hematology method that the STAR ™ uses, the cost per test is much easier to identify than wet hematology systems that have hidden operational and service costs.
Point of Care Hematology Testing QBC’s dry hematology analyzers are a valuable tool for point of care complete blood count (CBC) testing. Our prescription point of care instruments can provide immediate and critical information, helping you intervene while the patient is still in the office thereby improving diagnosis and patient outcomes.
Drucker Diagnostics provides two point of care hematology testing systems: the QBC STAR and the Autoread Plus. Both of these devices use a small 70 microliter venous, capillary, finger or heel stick sample.

The Autoread System is the most durable CBC analyzer on the market. Its dry hematology technology and hard plastic frame make it suitable for conducting testing in even the harshest conditions.
