There is Gray, not only Black or White. You can detect metal from distance and even distinguish from one another. For anyone interested in metal detectors. Geotech forum is great resource. The QED designer Howard aka Bugwhiskers use to post there. You will find many projects and information about metal detectors.
The QED Metal Detector was first released in late 2016 on the anniversary of the 162 nd Eureka Rebellion. It was known as the QED PL1 and had only three red control buttons on the forward mounted control box.
However the QED audio has a very low level signal EVEN if below threshold, This below threshold faint audio signal is just the pitch signal only, and detects all signals, ground noise, target signals, whether long time constant or short, and EMI.
The coils can be either flat wound, bundle wound, spiral wound or conventionally wound. Obviously, this excludes coils built for the SDC2300 and the GPZ7000. Note that the new CC coils do work on the QED, but are less effective than the performance when used with the Minelab GPX series of Detectors.
The QED is an Australian designed and manufactured single channel Pulse Induction metal detector.
The result is an Australian designed and manufactured single channel Pulse Induction metal detector that’s very well priced in relation to its competitors and has the performance to match the current tier 1 metal detectors of all other brands.
We hope and believe our tests were rigorously objective, the QED was used for general gold hunting and also comprehensively tested on buried real gold pieces of various sizes in a variety of soils, considerable care was taken to ensure no placebo/bias.*
They are suitable for the Minelab SD, GP, GPX series Pulse Induction gold metal detectors (see below for specific models). Most of these coils (especially the Mono coils) will also work well with White's TDI / TDI Pro / TDI Pro Oz & White's SPP Pulse Induction detec
