In this video, I try out a pair of Qume 8″ floppy disk drives with the RC2014: Most people who have read my retrocomputing series probably have some familiarity with 3 1/2″ drives or with 5 1/4″ drives. Step 3: Install GUI for QEMU on Windows 10. As we know the QEMU uses the command line to create virtual machines by default. But it would be not feasible for standard computer users using CLI to manage virtual machines, thus we install another open-source application to provide a Graphical user interface (GUI) to QEMU.

If you have a complete system image already that works on hardware and you want to boot with QEMU, check whether QEMU lists that machine in its '-machine help' output. If it does, that's the best place to start. If it doesn't then unfortunately you're out of luck: your image won't boot on QEMU. If it's a Linux image and you're mostly interested in the userspace software, then you may be able to extract the filesystem and use that with a different kernel which boots on a system Q…

Virtualization, i.e., creating and running virtual machines, is handled by something called a hypervisor, which can either be software, firmware or hardware. The system on which the hypervisor runs virtual machines is called the host system, and the virtual machines themselves are called guestsystems. The hypervisor manages and provides resources to the guest OS, and it translates system calls of the guest OS to suitable system calls or hardware interrupts in the ho…

Is Qmee Safe? Qmee is generally safe to use, or as safe as other survey sites and GPT sites at least. Due to the nature of this type of site, you will have to give up some personal information if you want to make money. That said, the biggest security concern with Qmee is that they get most of their surveys from third-parties.

When used as a machine emulator, QEMU can run OSes and programs made for one machine (e.g. an ARM board) on a different machine (e.g. your own PC). By using dynamic translation, it achieves very good performance. When used as a virtualizer, QEMU achieves near native performance by executing the guest code directly on the host CPU.

Qume also manufactured floppy diskette drives, particularly 5.25" ones, but it also manufactured 8" diskette drives as well. Qume's diskette drives were included in some IBM PC models, such as the Portable Personal Computer and PCjr.
