The Polaris Water Heater is a very sophisticated unit and it is critical that the manufacturer’s instructions be followed implicitly. Please be advised, though, that you need to follow Radiantec’s plumbing diagrams when connecting your system to the Polaris.
Radiantec recommends using a quality domestic water heater instead of a boiler in underfloor radiant heating systems. There are many good reasons for this such as: 1. Boilers make very hot water by design. Domestic water heaters make moderate temperature water by design.
LUXURY ITEM THAT IS NOT AFFORDABLE FOR MOST PEOPLE. WELL, THAT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE TRUE. You can use your own tools, and your own labor and simple installation packages from Radiantec and get a valuable addition to your home for about half the cost.
Ceramic tile is the best floor covering to use with radiant heat. Not all floor coverings conduct heat well enough to work with radiant heating systems. The best choice is ceramic tile, which conducts heat as well as concrete. Laminate and stone flooring, as well as solid and engineered hardwood, are also suitable.
Current floor status: The best time to install any kind of radiant heating is during new construction or an extensive remodel. This is when the floors are non-existent, so you won't add to construction costs by having to drill into or remove the existing floor.
You can install radiant heat systems either above or below the subfloor. Ideally, it's placed above the subfloor so the heat source is actually heating up the flooring and not the subfloor. In a retrofit, this can raise the floor a couple of inches, creating problems with appliances and doors.
