The conclusion is the S-6ES is a solid plane, and a solid investment. Coyote II's hold their value and are prized pre-owned aircraft. It is a sport plane of useable value, a tough trainer; some airframes have over 3000 hours. It can operate in the raging winds of Kansas; we still do demos when it is blowing in the 30MPH plus range.

The Rans S7 is well-proven with vortex generators. I owned a Rans S7 for 100 hrs. When I bought it, it wasn't equipt with VGs, and I had to fly it home (15 hrs) without them. I was trained on tail-dragger aircraft, and the S7 is well-behaved, so it was familiar, but several of those landings on the way were 'abrupt'.

The Rans S-7S Courier kit comes with a four cylinder 100hp Rotax ULS, the non-certified variant (according to FAR 33). The engine TBO is 2,000 hours and is just as light as its 80hp predecessor.
Along the way Rans owner and chief designer Randy Schlitter spent seven years developing a primary category version of the plane called the S-7C. Sadly this was an investment that failed to pay off as the primary category never caught on. On the bright side, many of the improvements developed during that process were incorporated into the S-7S.
