You then downgrade the file to a manual underwrite. It is underwriter discretion on how high they will allow the veteran to go. In my experience, the highest I have seen is a 54% back-end debt to income Ratio. There is not a true guideline on maximum front-end debt to income Ratio, once again this is underwriter discretion.

Feb 27, 2003 . I have never seen one in an A-body but I do know that 67-69 Z-28's came standard with a quick Ratio manual box. The GM P/N for 67-68 is 5699471 and 69 is 7806396. All you have to do is find one of these boxes, remove the camaro pitman arm and install the Chevelle manual box pitman arm and voila, quick Ratio manual steering!-----Dave

Oct 24, 2002 . The magazine article mentions that a crawl Ratio lower than 100:1 with a V-8 can result in "easily shattered axles when a tires get bound up." What you are guys running with manual trannies? I'm putting together a 350-400HP motor and wondering if I should stay at 68:1 (I'll save $$$$$) or go with a TeraLow kit and 102:1.

If you are looking for information on what gear Ratios your manual ransmission has in it or looking to do a conversionthe following table should provide the basic information you need.
VARIABLE RatioS- Two numbers, first number is the center of travel Ratio, the second is Ratio near the end of travel, measured at box output shaft, not the wheels. the boxes below were used by GM in the 70's only the Ratios marked * are First Gen boxes. CONSTANT RatioS- I believe these are at the box Ratios, not overall.
The IROC has a stiffer spool valve for even higher steering effort than the Z/28. The fastest Ratio box before 1982 was a 14 to 1. This box gave a 13 to 1 OVERALL Ratio when in the car due to the steering linkage increase, (longer pitman arm) making it equal to the third gen 12 to 1 Ratio.
Acceptable Ratio thresholds are met: a. The PITI Ratio is greater than 29 percent, but less than or equal to 32 percent, accompanied by a TD Ratio not exceeding 44 percent; or b. The TD Ratio is greater than 41 percent, but less than or equal to 44 percent, accompanied by a PITI Ratio not exceeding 32 percent; And: 2.
