Safe@Home by Safe Sitter® is a program designed for students in grades 4-6 to prepare them to be safe when they are home alone. Each program includes a student booklet and a facilitators guide that will help parents understand and reinforce the skills taught in the student booklet. Safe@Home by Safe Sitter® is a program designed for students in grades 4-6 to prepare them to be safe when they are home alone.
Home safety tips are part of the discharge planning process at CareOne facilities and often include home visits to assess safety issues prior to discharge. Typical safety recommendations range from general to room-specific with a focus on reducing the number of accidents that occur within the home.
The SAFER-HOME was developed to evaluate change to the home following a home safety intervention. This outcome measure looks at change in safety over time. While the SAFER identifies safety concerns, the SAFER-HOME addresses the extent to which it is a concern.
Safe@Home is ideal for students that have expressed interest in assuming the responsibility of staying home alone. Students that are interested in learning how to stay home alone safely as well as care for younger children should complete one of our comprehensive Safe Sitter® courses.
