Most sailboats have one mainsail and one headsail. Typically, the mainsail is a fore-and-aft bermuda rig (triangular shaped). A jib or genoa is used for the headsail. Most sailors use additional sails for different conditions: the spinnaker (a common downwind sail), gennaker, code zero (for upwind use), and stormsail. Each sail has its own use.

Jan 07, 2016 . SailRC closing. Its sad but it is a fact of life. When products don't sell and make a profit for the suppliers the products get dumped for a different product. In RC hobby it seems to be that power is overtaking everything. After all not every RC sailor buys new, different parts every week like the go fast guys do.

You are the law aboard the submarine and all that stands between complete chaos is you and your decision-making skills. Captains have no use for Security Officers who can't think for themselves.

An RC Sailboat works by either capturing or redirecting wind energy to propel the boat forward. This is accomplished by the Sailor of the boat placing the sail in the proper direction to catch the wind and at the same time providing a constant heading for the boat to travel in. Steering on the hull is accomplished by controlling the rudder.

Some sailors don’t even use the swivel but use a straight line instead. A topping lift should also be used for a very controlled jib trim. The topping lift is hooked between the jib stay and the rear of the jib boom and is adjusted with a bowsie. Unfortunately, the topping lift likes to …

Specialty sails (just a name I came up with) each have different functionalities and are used for very specific conditions. So they're not always up, but most sailors carry one or more of these sails. They are mostly attached in front of the headsail, or used as a headsail replacement.
The Bermuda rig uses a triangular sail, with just one side of the sail attached to the mast. The mainsail is in use most of the time. It can be reefed down, making it smaller depending on the wind conditions.
The sail rig and sail plan are often used interchangeably. When we talk of the sail rig we usually mean the sail plan. Although they are not quite the same. A sail plan is the set of drawings by the naval architect that shows the different combinations of sails and how they are set up for different weather conditions.
