The Si Wong has been known by many names, some as old as the sand itself. The "Desert of the Dead" is its most infamous moniker, and perhaps its most apt. For as long as rhinoceros beetles have roamed its endless expanse and buzzard wasps have flown underneath its scorching sun, foolish adventurers have challenged its unforgiving, shifting ...

Sandbending is practiced by the Sandbender tribes of the Si Wong Dessert, who settled there and developed a tribal society inaccessible to the Earth Kingdom government. The Sandbenders eventually gained a mastery over the landscape, traveling over sand dunes with their Sand Sailers by creating mini-cyclones in the sails.

Seismic sense is a sub-skill of earthbending that constitutes for physical sense. This skill enables earthbenders to detect vibrations in the ground to perceive objects, people, and other aspects of their environment, essentially acting as sonar, but through earth and metal. As the badgermoles were the original earthbenders, they were also the first users of seismic sense. Naturally blind ...

The sandbender tribes are a people indigenous to, or joined a tribe of the Si Wong Desert, divided into somewhat organized tribes. The tribes have adapted to their hostile, barren, and unbelievably hot environment by becoming nomads, scavengers, mercenaries, desert guides and sometime even raiders (though is a dishonorable act for a tribe).

Sandbender #2 [Jumps off Appa with the other sandbender and kicks a box.] Doesn't matter. We'll still make a profit from selling him to those beetle-headed merchants. The other sandbender picks up the parasol and opens it. Cut to a small camp of merchants which the sandbenders bring Appa to using the two remaining sand-sailers.

While Sandbending was useful in successfully kidnapping Appa, its localized ability and restriction to the desert keeps Sandbender tribes out of most wars and political conflicts. That being said, Sandbending would be incredibly effective in any battle given the opportunity, just look at Naruto with Gaara’s dominion over sand.
With unique a unique style and complex origin, Sandbending forces Earthbenders to use an indirect, Waterbender-like approach towards their usual technique. Because of this contradiction with regular Earthbending styles, the level of the difficulty is much greater, even for a prodigy like Toph.
following rules must be followed when using a belt/disc sander: • Always sand on the downward motion side of the disc/belt. Never the upward motion side as this can throw your part upwards with tremendous force. • Always attempt to place your work against the rest on the disc and belt sanders and hold the work securely.
The disc sander consists of a reference table and a circular plate mounted to a motor shaft. A cloth or paper-backed abrasive disc is cemented to the plate. The diameter of the disc indicates the size of the machine, commonly 12”. The combination sander includes a vertical belt sander as part of the machine.
Idoru is William Gibson 's Through the Looking Glass . In typical Gibson style, the dueling narratives follow two distinctly melancholy characters: there is the starry-eyed teenaged angst of Chia Pet McKenzie and the existential, nearly Phildickian dread of Colin Laney.
A Goodreads friend commented that William Gibson’s Bridge trilogy was underrated. I would agree and add under appreciated and under hyped. Began in 1993 with Virtual Light, this continues with Idoru published in 1996.
In Idoru, as in Virtual Light, Gibson introduces us to a near future world that is still rebuilding after some earthquakes have substantially repurposed much of the Pacific rim.
As in his other writings, Idoru is a very loose sequel to the first, keeping contact with some characters, but the plot is new and stands alone in his post-change world building.
