Version 21.1 of the SARA Policy Manual codifies existing SARA policy as of May 28, 2021. The SARA Policy Manual 21.1 red line version shows all edits compared to SARA Policy Manual 20.3.
Assessment procedures for completing the SARA make use of multiple sources of information and use multiple methods.
The SARA also was the basis for development of the BSAFER, which is a briefer tool designed especially for use in law enforcement and criminal justice settings. Version 3 incorporates the latest advances in case formulation, scenario planning, and risk management, including victim safety planning.
National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA) SARA for States SARA for Institutions SARA for Students. SARA is an agreement among member states, districts and territories that establishes comparable national standards for interstate offering of postsecondary distance education.
NC-SARA centralizes the authorization process for each institution in a single state, referred to as the “home state.” By reducing the number of states in which an institution needs to apply for authorization, students benefit from expanded access to educational offerings and institutions benefit by reducing state authorization costs.
The New Mexico Higher Education Department (NMHED) is New Mexico's state portal entity for NC-SARA and has authority to help facilitate resolution to student complaints, only after the student has utilized all internal complaint procedures at the educational institution.
