The advantages of spikes is that they won't leave depressions or stain marks in your carpet that rubber feet would. Use rubber feet to protect hard floor surfaces, as spiked feet will surely scratch the flooring.

We kick off this review with the 8PCs speaker spikes whose diameter is 25mm and have a thickness of 5mm. you will appreciate that the speaker spikes are nickel-plated which brings them a very great finish. The main reason why you will want to get these speaker spikes is the fact that they greatly help to reduce booming.
If you have them, even spikes can be used when an appropriate interface is introduced between the spike & floor. And again, if you are listening in a room where the décor minded person will object to having the speakers placed further into the room, always be sure to put them back when your serious listening session ends.
I tend to prefer more of what I call a musically organic sound, whereas the spikes produce a more mechanically precise sound. So there is room for calling one or the other a simple preference. Until you think about the actual sound of live bass, acoustic or amplified.
The idea is we want the speaker cones to create vibrations in the room, but having the speaker itself move isn’t what we want at all. By coupling the speaker rigidly to the floor, it better resists movement in response to the movement of the speaker cones.
