Well here's the thing then. Considering that you can pair up a Switch Pro controller to a PC over Bluetooth, it may be likely you can pair it up to the XB1 (yes this contradicts what I said earlier).However, in PC land, the Pro controller is seen as a DirectInput controller which is the older controller API in Windows.XB1 and newer games on PC rely on the XInput API.

You can do it, by pressing for two seconds the little button on the front of the controller and going to the pairing menu in RetroPie. Then, when you go back to Emulation Station and configure the controller everything will work EXCEPT for the analogue sticks.

Place the Nintendo Switch console in the dock. Connect the Pro Controller to the dock with the included USB cable (model No. HAC-010). How to connect the Switch Pro Controller via Bluetooth. The steps are essentially the same as connecting the Joy-Cons, so check the bullet points above for the exact method. The sync button for the Pro Controller is located at the top of the controller, directly to the left of the USB-C plug.
While you're here, take the time to personalize your Switch controller by selecting it under Detected Controllers. If your controller isn't registering properly, start by clicking Identify, then open the controller's preferences. You can change the name, the brightness of the home button's light ring, and whether to use the gyro motion sensor.
Naturally, we want to enable Switch Pro Configuration Support. If you like your Pro controller with flip-flopped X/Y and A/B buttons, you can also enable the Nintendo button layout so games default to it. If this option is not enabled, your Pro controller will be treated like an Xbox controller.

Turn on Bluetooth on your computer. Disconnect the Joy-Cons from the Switch. Hold the Sync button on the Joy-Cons, located between the SR and SL buttons, until the LED lights start flashing. Use the image below, if you need clarification. Look for the Joy-Con in your computer's Bluetooth menu, and select the option to pair it with your device.
