The world of microplastics contains many confusing terms, so for this article, we decided to discuss two of the most commonly used microplastics: Polyethylene and Acrylates Copolymer. Microplastics have been intentionally added to cosmetic products since the 1960s and are now found everywhere, even in the most remote places on Earth.
By “skeptical microplastic” ingredients we mean synthetic polymers for which there is not enough information available. Some studies indicate toxicity of these ingredients to human life, some to aquatic environments, and for others, we cannot find enough information. The information on persistency and biodegradability is particularly hard to find.
