About Taber. Taber Industries' Materials Test and Measurement Division is a global leader for the design and manufacture of high quality, affordable test instruments. Used to evaluate the physical properties of materials, Taber instruments play a critical role in the way companies test the durability of their products.
The Taber ® Abraser (Abrader) is available in two models - single or dual specimen tables. Both offer the same durable design and can be used interchangeably. Model 1700 features a single specimen turntable.
Best known for our expertise in abrasion and surface wear, Taber also offers solutions to measure resistance to scratch, mar and scuff damage; along with bending resiliency and stiffness. Originally founded in 1941 by Ralph Taber, the Taber Instrument Corporation was established to manufacture precision testing instruments.
In addition to the Materials Test & Measurement division, Taber Industries consists of two additional product divisions: Taber Transducer In 1955, Taber's product line was expanded with the acquisition of bonded foil strain gage pressure transducers from Fredric Flader, Inc, a gas turbine engine development company.
The standard material thickness that can be evaluated with the Taber Rotary Abraser is 6.35 mm (materials greater than 6.35 mm but less than 40 mm can be tested with optional accessories). Two genuine Taber abrasive wheels, which are applied at a specific pressure, are lowered onto the specimen surface.
The Taber® Linear Abraser (Abrader) - Model 5750 has been engineered to test either contoured or flat surfaces, making it ideal to evaluate finished products of all sizes. To expand the versatility of this instrument, the Linear Abraser can be configured with optional test attachments to perform different types of abrasion tests.
The size and shape of a pencil eraser, the Wearaser is made using the same high quality Taber abrasive media found in our Genuine Taber abrading wheels. This permits the use of equivalent abrasive materials with the Linear Abraser as well as Taber's Reciprocating Abraser and the Taber Rotary Platform Abraser.
To expand the versatility of this instrument, the Linear Abraser can be configured with optional test attachments to perform different types of abrasion tests. And can be used for both wet and dry testing.
