The Taber Abrader is commonly known as the double head test or rotatory platform tester. It is the precision build technology that has been designed for testing the accelerated wear resistance. Within minutes it can provide reliable data. It can help save a lot of time because in-use testing requires years if done by the traditional method.

Taber abrasion is a method used to determine the ability of a material to withstand wear. Taber abrasion is evaluated using what is known as a Taber abrasion test or Tabor abrader. Taber abrasion uses two abrasive wheels that the material being evaluated is rotated underneath for a given time and under a given load.

Description. The Taber Abraser tests a specimen mounted on a rotating turntable, which is subjected to the wearing action of two abrasive wheels applied at a specific pressure. The wheels are driven by the rotating specimen about a horizontal axis displaced tangentially from the vertical axis of the specimen. Rub-wear action is produced by the sliding-rotation of the two abrading …

Taber did not support cannabis use. Having grown up in the D.A.R.E. era as an athlete, she believed indulging would carry a stigma. In fact, after she first smoked, she told her future husband that she felt as though cottonmouth, paranoia, and munchies were not worth the high.

The ”Taber test” was first introduced in the 1930's, and quickly gained popularity because of its ability to provide reliable data in a matter of minutes. The test is performed using a Taber Rotary Platform Abraser and involves mounting a flat specimen to a turntable platform that rotates on a vertical axis at a fixed speed.

An optional range weight set of 3000 and 5000 Taber units is required for test ranges 7, 8 and 9. Range 1 is used with Taber's optional Sensitivity Range Attachment (also referred to as SR or High Sensitivity Attachment) to test extremely lightweight and flexible materials whose Taber Stiffness Unit value are between 0 - 1.
Taber Abrasers Model 1700 or 1750 offer the following standard features: Specimen turntable speed control allows options of both 60 rpm and 72 rpm. Easy-to-use LCD operator touch screen interface with selectable display options (including language selection). A vacuum system is included and is critical for the proper operation of the instrument.
The Rotary Platform Abrasion Tester also has the ability to perform adhesion or 'scrape' tests using a Scuffing Head Attachment in place of the abrading wheels. Mounted to the left hand abraser arm mount, one of three unique profile scuff heads are attached to the Taber Abraser such that it is held at a 100° angle.
Taber Rotary Platform Abraser (Abrader) The Rotary Platform Abrasion Tester (commonly referred to as the Taber Abraser or Taber Abrader) was introduced in the 1930's and has been a popular instrument for evaluating abrasion and wear resistance.
The standard material thickness that can be evaluated with the Taber Rotary Abraser is 6.35 mm (materials greater than 6.35 mm but less than 40 mm can be tested with optional accessories).
