A surgical procedure in which only the active electrode is in the surgical wound; electrosurgery that directs current through the patient’s body and requires the use of a patient return electrode.
In monopolar electrosurgery, the active electrode is in the surgical site. The patient return electrode is somewhere else on the patient’s body. The current passes through the patient as it completes the circuit from the active electrode to the patient return electrode. • The active electrode is in the wound.
A conductive plate or pad (dispersive electrode) that recovers the therapeutic current from the patient during electrosurgery, dispersing it over a wide surface area, and returns it to the electrosurgical generator. Plates are usually rigid and made of metal or foil-covered cardboard; pads are usually flexible.
This all-in-one disposable includes the cannula, electrode, and injection tube in one simplified device and is engineered to minimize cannula movement, giving you confidence in functionality, precision, and control. Disposable TCD electrodes and Disposable Unified electrodes are also available in convenient 4-piece procedure packs.
