However, VicRoads may refuse to register a vehicle if it has a TAKATA airbag (including an alpha airbag) and the registered owner fails to respond to multiple recall notifications from the vehicle manufacturer to arrange a replacement. Contact VicRoads for further information about registration of an affected vehicle.
Honda stated they knew of more than 100 injuries and thirteen deaths (seven in the United States plus six in Malaysia) that were related to TAKATA airbags. In April and May 2013, a total of 3.6 million cars were recalled due to defective TAKATA airbags.
