Apr 22, 2015 . p.1 #8 · p.1 #8 · VC problem with new Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 VC lens? No, it doesn't seem to kick in again by toggling the VC switch (or cycling power to the camera). The only thing that seems to make the VC work is to take off the lens and re-mount it (and even then, it only seems to work the first time I half-press the shutter).

Tamron SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD. We can see a few abbreviations here: SP, Di, VC, and USD. These mean that it is a superior lens, it works with full-frame or crop sensor cameras and has stabilization. On top of that, it has a supersonic drive, making it fast and quiet for auto-focusing.

When to turn Tamron VC OFF? Just got the 24-70 VC for my D800. As with my Nikon lenses with their version, VR, Nikon recommends to turn if off if shooting above 1/500th sec and when on a tripod (obviously). I sent an email to Tamron asking about this and no reply. I then called them and the woman was unsure which was a little unsettling.

A few hundred over the standard model in price is still well under the Nikon MSRP and it would place the 18-200 hyper-zoom; a class Tamron invented, back on par with the 18-200mm from Sigma.

Turn both the SteadyShot menu item of the camera body and the IS switch of the lens ON to use optical image stabilization. The following 3 first-generation Tamron VC lenses are NOT recommended for use with Metabones Speed Booster/Smart Adapter.
User may choose between lens optical image stabilization (OIS) and in-body image stabilization (IBIS) using the lens' IS switch (except for first-generation Tamron VC lenses). If the lens' IS switch is ON, lens OIS is used and IBIS is turned off automatically.
Earlier this year, Tamron announced a new telephoto zoom for full-frame Sony mirrorless cameras, the Tamron 150-500mm f/5-6.7 Di III VC VXD (Model A057). This new E-mount lens offers a surprisingly compact and lightweight design for an ultra-telephoto zoom lens.
