Tamron released the first high-speed F/2.8 ultra-wide-angle zoom lens in the world equipped with a VC (Vibration Compensation) mechanism, the original Model A012. The new Model A041 has been further improved with a newly developed VC mechanism that surpasses former versions and reaches 4.5 stops*, according to CIPA standards.
To get to 1:1 magnification, the Tamron SP BBAR MC 2X Adaptall tele-converter is required. The teleconverter adds weight and length to the lens that makes it less desirable to carry around. Overall, a nice lens as long as you don't have to buy an Adaptall 2 adapter. Check current prices at eBay.
The new SP AF90mm Di (Model 272E) features an improved coating technology that reduces the reflections that are likely to become a problem, to the absolute minimum.
The result is the ... Like all the Tamron SP Di lenses released to date, the 90mm macro is made of black polycarbonate, with a rubberised focusing collar and metal lens mount. It shares a family resemblance with the superb 180mm macro, through the use of gold engraving and blue manual/autofocus markings.
