During the 1980's, most Tamrons (including the 52B, 52BB, and 72B) used the Adaptall-2 mount. This was a generic mount, and Tamron then produced Adaptall-2 adapters for each of the various camera mounts (Nikon F, Olympus OM, Pentax M42, etc). This allowed them to manufacture a single lens for use on every 35mm camera variety.
Tamron has sold more than 5 million lenses as of September 2014. In the 2017 fiscal year, such lenses accounted for 74.9% of all sales. Interchangeable lenses for digital and conventional SLR cameras, including compact high-ratio zoom lenses of which Tamron was the pioneer in 1992 when it released the 28–200 mm.
The new SP AF90mm Di (Model 272E) features an improved coating technology that reduces the reflections that are likely to become a problem, to the absolute minimum.

Bottom line, this is an excellent macro lens at a very attractive price, and available in a wide range of lens mounts (Canon, Minolta/Sony, Nikon, and Pentax). Update 09/02/08: Tamron has announced that the Nikon mount version will be available with built-in AF motor (Model 272E) , for use with the Nikon D40, D40x and D60 SLRs.
