Saab TankRadar REX is a state-of-the art inventory and custody transfer radar tank gauging system for storage tanks . It fulfills the highest requirements on performance and safety. The development of Saab TankRadar REX is based on 25 years experience in radar level gauging.
The Saab TankRadar REX system is configured and operated using the OPC compatible TankMaster software package. Its a user-friendly Human Machine Interface (HMI) software that gives the operator a good overview and quick access to any measured values.
The Radar Tank Gauge sends microwaves towards the surface of the product in the tank. The level is calculated based on the echo from the surface. TankRadar REX can measure the level of almost any product, including bitumen, crude oil, refined products, aggressive chemicals, LPG and LNG, etc.
Rosemount TankRadar REX generates and uses radio frequency energy. If it is not installed and used properly, that is, in strict accordance with the manufacturer´s instructions, it may violate FCC regulations on radio frequency emission. Rosemount TankRadar REX has been FCC certified under test conditions which assume a metallic tank.
The TankRadar REX System is a monitoring and control system for tank level gauging. The system can interface various sensors, such as temperature and pressure sensors, for complete inventory control. There is a distributed intelligence in the various units of the system. The units continuously collect and process information.
The communi cation between various TRL/2 and Rex units is checked, and necessary backups of database files etc. are created. It also includes checking that the installations are done according to safety regulations. This manual provides brief descriptions of most of the items in the Check List for Rosemount TankRadar REX.
Service Manual 308012En, Ed.2 Rosemount Tank Radar Rex May 2013 Chapter 3 Device Description 3.1.10 Software Description The Rex transmitter contains software which controls measurement, communication etc. Each program can be changed by either replacing an EEPROM or by downloading through the TRL/2 bus.
If the Trex unit is used in a manner not specified by Emerson, the protection provided by the equipment may be impaired. WARNING! Do not directly connect the ports or terminals on the Trex unit to any main line voltage.
