Lighting systems are dependent on electrical power for their function and operation. Therefore, this manual shall be used in conjunction with the VA Electrical Design Manual to produce complete and functional systems.
With automatic control, a microprocessor or logic circuit performs this function. This microprocessor or logic circuit is called the lighting controller, which provides the control system’s intelligence.
Most networked lighting control systems also use gateways to distribute the network connections from the server out to the devices (controllers, sensors and switches). This is true in most wireless systems as well as in most wired systems.

The sequence of operation is a description of system outputs in response to various inputs for each control point. It is expressed as the controls narrative, a written document produced during the project conceptual design phase. This document serves as a project roadmap for the intended lighting control system.
