TBS CROSSFIRE is currently the most reliable long-range and close-range radio system. The Micro TX is more than enough for FPV unless you want to go further than 10km and you really want to have that screen on the back. Over the air receiver updates are incredible compared to Frsky’s confusing LBT and FCC firmwares that need to match.

Sep 11, 2018 . The normal way to setup the TBS CROSSFIRENano RX is power, ground, channel 1 to RX/channel 2 to TX on a spare UART port. Of course that’s the preferred method if you have a spare UART port to use. If you are using a flight controller like on the EMAX Mini Magnum 2 stack, there isn’t a spare UART port.

Select the “CROSSFIRE” folder and long press “crossfire.lua”, select “execute” from the dropdown list. You can now configure both the TBS CROSSFIRE TX and RX. If you don’t see the option “XF Micro/Nano RX”, it means your receiver is either not bound or the power is off.
TBS CROSSFIRE Range. MAX RANGE @10mW: 20km. It's tough to say precisely how much a long-range module will enable your system to proceed. There are a lot of variables that can both increase and decrease range. Antenna quality, antenna positioning on the drone, damaged or improperly installed antennas, atmospheric interference, and so forth.
Update your Crossfire TX module to the latest firmware. Launch TBS Agent, and connect your Crossfire TX module to your computer using the Micro USB port. If there is a newer version detected, click the “Update” button to update the firmware. This should only take a few minutes.
SBUS is a high frequency one way communication protocol, up to 150 updates per second (Hz). While our TBS CRSF (CROSSFIRE) is a two-way, low-latency, error detection, communication protocol which allows uplink- and model-telemetry (via BST to RX) to be carried back to the remote control.
The Crossfire module is fully compatible with Taranis X9D+, Jumper T18, T16, and the RadioMaster TX16S. It also works with Taranis Q X7, and Horus X10S, but there are some minor issues due to the inability of operating at full baud rate, causing problems such as constant warning of “telemetry lost”.
The TBS CROSSFIRE is a popular RC system for long range flying. It’s an external RF module that can be installed directly on the back of the FrSky Taranis and many other popular radio such as RadioMaster TX16S so you can still use the powerful OpenTX interface.
You can install the Crossfire TX module directly in the external JR module bay on the back of the radio. Insert the module carefully, make sure all the pins go into the sockets of the Crossfire module properly. The Crossfire module is fully compatible with Taranis X9D+, Jumper T18, T16, and the RadioMaster TX16S.
Configure Betaflight for Crossfire. The last step is to setup Betaflight to recognize the Crossfire protocol. Go to the “Ports” tab in the Betaflight configurator, and enable “Serial RX” in the UART you’ve connected to the TBS CROSSFIRE receiver. Press “Save”.
