We’ve seen this simulator used in welding classes, shop classes, auto and ag mechanics instruction, manufacturing courses, construction programs, and millwright training programs. It’s great for secondary, post-secondary and adult retraining courses. Why is guideWELD® VR welding simulator right for me?
The welding simulator provides immediate feedback on work angle, travel angle, speed, nozzle-to-plate distance, and straightness. Online access to: guideWELD VR curriculum (3 units, 13 lessons – over 25 hours of curriculum and assessment), Administrator Guide, Instructor User Guide, Student User Guide, Quick Start Guide, Product software
In manual welding, the operator points the electrode in the direction of welding and uses the arc to melt the metal at the joint. If filler metal is required, for example when making a fillet weld, it is added to the leading edge of the weld pool. Filler is supplied as cut lengths of wire - usually 1 metre long.
MIG welding requires consumable wire, material pre-cleaning and beveled joints for thick metals for full penetration. Travel and work angles are limited and vertical positions are extremely challenging.
