CALSAFE lime slurry, a ready-to-use liquid product, is often used for its calcium and magnesium value in either a final product or by-product. These processes can include alkali source, pH adjustment, as a desiccant, or a metathesis reaction amongst others.

Scaling in lime slurry piping is another problem caused by the escape of air into pipes (formation of calcium carbonate) and settling of solids during off cycles especially when smaller diameter slurry lines are used.
