• Can I complete Tece training online?

  TECE Training an also be completed online from a personal computer. Delaware will only accept online coursework from the Council for Professional Recognition’s list of approved organizations to fulfill TECE.

• Which credentials are accepted for Tece 1 and 2?

  Online training organizations often offer Infant/Toddler, Preschool and Family Child Care CDA credentials. All three of these credential types are accepted for TECE 1 and 2. Choose the program that fits best based on the children you plan to support.

• Is Tece 1 & 2 training being phased out?

  Note that TECE 1 & 2 training from Cypherworx/Collabornation is being phased out. This training will no longer be accepted after January 1, 2020.

• Can I take Tece 1 and 2 at the same time?

  No, TECE 1 and 2 must be taken together as it is only offered as a complete training package of 120 hours. Can I take TECE 1 in person and then finish online or vice versa?

• Does the Delaware Department of Education offer Tece training?

  The Delaware Department of Education does not offer TECE training, but does provide a list of training options for those who want to become early education teachers. Specific questions about student eligibility, registration and payment should be directed to the programs listed below.

• What certifications do you need to teach early childhood education in Delaware?

  Delaware requires all early learning educators to be certified by the state before working with children in early childcare or school-age care centers. Educators can receive the following certificates in Delaware: Early Care and Education Certificate: Work with children from birth through age eight in childcare settings.

  Training in Early Care and Education (TECE) coursework provides future educators an understanding of child development, building positive teacher-child relationships, planning effective lessons, and managing time and space in the classroom.
