Yes, most of the parts we machine have thin walls and floors and are prone to distortion, but if not tightened sufficiently they come up or come out or else you have to go very slowly. So I'm wondering if I need to use less torque or not.

I have never used Techniks, but we do have a few Lyndex that we're very happy with. Our primary brand is Command. They are more pricey than Lyndex, but I find Lyndex to be just as good.
