Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can a captor be used as a load box?

The sound that comes from the CAPTOR when you record using it as a load box is the same sound you get when you play the amp out loud. The IR package that comes with it is nice though I wish that the amps available would just be what they are instead of rebranded versions of real amps that only hint at what they're supposed to be.

  • Can a captor be used as an attenuator?

Used purely as an attenuator, the CAPTOR’s fixed 20dB cut provides a substantial amount of attenuation. While it may tame a 100-watt high- gain amp to a sensible gigging level, a 15-watter is reduced to home practice levels. Since the thru output is exactly what it claims, you can plug the CAPTOR’s non-attenuated output into an external attenuator.

  • How big is the AMP on the captor X?

In the two attenuated modes, the amp is just seeing the 8Ω load of the CAPTOR X. Although the CAPTOR X only had an 8Ω version at launch, a 16Ω alternative is already in production.

  • What kind of attenuator do I need for two notes?

-The Attenuator (used with a 50w tube head) is not quiet enough for bedroom levels and too quiet to use with my drummer. Come on Two Notes, give us a reactive attenuator with an *output* volume knob on it!
