If you want more power for, for instance, towing a glider, the UL Power 350is with its 130 hp is an excellent choice. The UL350IS is basically an UL350I engine modified to a higher compression ratio. It runs on Avgas or Mogas 97/98.

The following graph shows the calculated available power of the UL260i engine at different RPM settings, WOT (wide open throttle) and varying density altitude. For more details please check the technical data document. These are values at full throttle. When cruising estimated average is UL260 ±13l.

We have an iEFIS lite Challenger hooked up to the ULPOWER engine via its ECU and an RDAC CAN ULPOWER. Everything seems to be reading pretty accurately except for the expected fuel flow. The MGL install manual says to set the sender type as Turbine, and the K factor to 3500. This seems to give us a fuel flow about double what we expected in cruise.

ULPOWER takes a different approach to air-cooled, horizontally-opposed, direct-drive engines. If small airplane pilots were to get so frustrated with today’s engines that they “rioted” for new engines, they might well be chanting: “What do we want?” “Easier starting!” “What do we want?” “Better power-to-weight ratios!”
“What do you get in the box of a ULPOWER UL350iS?” – and the answer is a lot more than most engines, at least in our experience – and what more is there to fall in love with!
Take a look at this video and you will get an idea of what is in a particular UL350iS engine order…. do note that there are other options, and not all parts have been shown – but we hope this video will help you fall in love with this engine – and want one of your own! Each ULPOWER engine is shipped with a straight (not Dynafocal) four-lug mounting plate bolted to the back of the engine. There’s also an option to add a two-lug mount at the front of the engine to utilize a cradle mount system.
