The minimum professional qualifications in archaeology are a graduate degree in archaeology, anthropology, or closely related field plus: 1. At least one year of full-time professional experience or equivalent specialized training in archaeological research, administration, or management; 2.
Site: A place where something happened in the past that could be or is the subject of excavation. Evaluation: Research, including the digging of narrow "trial trenches" (often with machines), to establish the quality of preservation at a site and its significance (Time Team digs are often described as evaluations).
The Council for British Archaeology promotes appreciation and care of the historic environment. Its website lists excavations, conferences and advice on how to get involved. I Love the Past reviews historic properties, museums and excavations.
On site communications and risk management are key to our approach. Before embarking on any programme of archaeological fieldwork we produce a Written Scheme of Investigation; a technical document required by the Local Planning Authority which outlines the nature of the work required and how it interfaces with other work on site.
