  If a Vehicle Configuration Management (VCM) is available, the read (VCM) button can be used to read the entire SVT of a vehicle from its VCM. Identi- fication of individual control units is performed with read (ECU). In this case, E-Sys sends functional request read_SVK.

• How is a VIN number read in E SYS?

  E-Sys basically operates with FA lists that may contain sev- eral FAs. If an FA is read from the vehicle, a list is created containing only this FA. The FA is then displayed as a tree structure. The long VIN number (Vinlong) is always read from the VIN master (e.g. CAS/ZGW) or loaded from a file together with the FA.

• When to use the E SYS coding system?

  E-Sys is used both to code control units developed in accordance with the Coding Specifica- tions SAP No. 10001491 or that use Standard Core 6.xx and to code carry over control units for the BN2000 environment in a BN2010 vehicle bus system.
