These bolt type shackles are produced by Van Beest Green Pin. Each shackle has a marked steel grade and traceability code. They meet US Federal performance requirements for specification RR-C-271 Type IVB Class 3, Grade A. Shackles may also be known as D or Dee shackles due to their shape design.

Wide Body Shackle Material: Bow and pin: High tensile steel, Grade 8 quenched and tempered. Van Beest® wide body shackles are upset forged with no drop forge flashing marks. Van Beest® wide body shackles have embossed information vs. raised sharp lettering which is ideal for synthetic lifting slings.
When a shackle is used to connect two slings to the hook of a lifting device, a bow type shackle must be assembled with the slings in the shackle body and the hook engaged with the shackle pin. The angle between the slings should not exceed 120°. If symmetrically loaded the shackle may be used to the full WLL.
Safety bolt shackles are used for long-term or permanent applications or where the load may slide on the pin causing rotation of the pin. Chain or dee shackles are mainly used on one-leg systems whereas anchor or bow shackles are mainly used on multi-leg systems. Range
