Placing the speakers on different rather than matching 168 divided by 3 is 56 (all to the nearest inch) width lines will require that the listening position be offset 168 divided by 5 is 34 to center it between the speakers.

As Timind mentions above, the manual makes the tilt look bigger than it is. In my experience with three different pairs of Vandys the tilt usually entails the front of the speaker being only one to one and a half inches higher than than the back of the speaker. The tilt with the VANDERSTEEN 1 and 2 models is key to opening up the sound stage.

VANDERSTEEN speakers are well respected and still in production today. These Model 1's use the best Vifa drivers that were in production at the time. The original Model 2 retailed for $760 a pair in 1977, and the current model goes for $2,395, so in real dollars it's about the same price after the M.S.R.P is adjusted for inflation! VANDERSTEEN still builds every speaker in Hanford, California, and provides service for every speaker that rolled out of that little factory.
Wire the speakers using both sets of cables as described in the user manual. Critically listen to your favorite music paying close attention to frequency response, soundstaging, detail, harmonic texture, etc. After powering down the amp, disconnect one of the speaker cables from each speaker and amp and install the shorting plates.
