ABY Pedal AB Y Switch The SEPARATOR Vein

This is my second Vein-Tap pedal. The first was a Vein-Tap II which I asked Ben to modify for me to control 2 Strymons & an analog delay. The mod was completed quickly & at a very reasonable price. The Seperator was bought because I needed a small, sturdy ABY pedal that could be placed on any pedalboard. It does the job perfectly & looks good too.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What kind of veins are used for venous blood sampling?

Caution must be taken to avoid arterial puncture. Leg veins (eg, dorsal digital veins and the greater saphenous vein inferoanterior to the medial malleolus) or external jugular veins may be used if upper extremity veins are inaccessible.

  • How to find a vein in the arm?

To help distend and locate veins, tap a potential site with your fingertips. It may help to allow the arm to hang down, increasing venous pressure. Use a vein-finder device if a suitable vein is not readily seen or palpated. After identifying a suitable cannulation site, remove the tourniquet.

  • Which is the best way to cannulate a peripheral vein?

Peripheral veins are most easily cannulated in a straight segment proximal to the junction of 2 tributaries. A tortuous vein segment may be difficult to cannulate, and venous valves also may impede catheter insertion. In general, cannulate more distal veins first; more proximal sites are used as the distal sites are expended.

  • How is the angiocatheter inserted into the vein?

Insert the needle in the skin at a shallow angle (10 to 30 degrees) about 1 to 2 cm distal to the point at which you intend to enter the vein. Advance the angiocatheter into the vein using a slow, even motion.
