The Tiguan eHybrid, as it’s known, shares a powertrain with GTE versions of the Volkswagen Golf and Passat – which means a turbocharged 1.4-litre petrol engine and electric motor, plus a 13kWh battery.
Under the hood of every 2021 Tiguan is a turbocharged four-cylinder that makes 184 horsepower; front-wheel drive is standard but Volkswagen's 4Motion all-wheel-drive system is optional.
These systems are also now bundled together under the name of IQ.Drive. Volkswagen has also revised the trim level hierarchy of the Tiguan; the entry-level car (named simply Tiguan) is joined by Life, Elegance and R-Line equipment lines. Standard kit across the range includes LED lights, automatic emergency braking and a 6.5in infotainment display.

Consumer ratings and reviews are also available for the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan and all its trim types. Overall, Edmunds users rate the 2021 Tiguan 4.2 on a scale of 1 to 5 stars.
The Tiguan eHybrid is a very relaxing car to spend time in. The ride is smooth and body control is good, while the refined hybrid drivetrain keeps noise to a minimum, especially at low speeds in pure-electric mode.
